HCFS was a part of a grant to La Plata County, run by the local resource efficiency group called 4Core, on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. We produced a report on a climate friendly food system, available here

Key Strategies: There are a great number of practices that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions in food production, processing, shipping, use, and disposal. Three very basic but critically important strategies include:
     1. Building soils on farms, ranches, and in gardens
     2. Using energy (and water) wisely, efficiently, and moving to renewables
     3. Growing, buying, and eating local food
