1)  CURE is a Minnesota-based organization that focuses on water, climate, and energy. How does climate change tie into that work?

CURE was founded 25 years ago as a grassroots advocacy nonprofit focused on protecting and restoring the watersheds of the Minnesota River Basin.  A decade ago, CURE’s leadership directed staff to campaign against the construction of a new coal-fired electricity generator in  order to halt further mercury pollution from being deposited in the Minnesota River Valley.  That campaign led to an ongoing relationship with the RE-AMP network, a midwest network of 172 nonprofits whose goal... read more

Montana agriculture losses to climate change could total $736 million a year, estimates an economic study prepared for Montana Farmers Union.

Warmer temperatures and drier summers are withering the future of Montana spring wheat, a major cash crop for state farmers, according to the report released Wednesday.

Over time, those changing conditions will cost the state $372 million on labor earnings due to 12,167 jobs lost to declined production. Range land losses due to dry conditions and changing plant life, will cut labor earnings related to cattle production by $364 million, and job losses similar to those for grain.

The Second European Rural Parliament, held in Austria in November 2015, was attended by 240 delegates from 40 European countries. This manifesto outlines the aspirations, commitments and demands of rural people, as informed by meetings during the 2015 European Rural Parliament campaign. 

"Equality in the Countryside: A Rural Manifesto for the Parliamentary Opposition" is an effort of The Land magazine, The Landworkers' Alliance and the Family Farmers' Association. This document provides policy objectives to reduce inequality in rural Europe. The document is broken up into the following sections:
