Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts

Who We Are

The Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts (OACD) is a private, non-profit organization representing the 88 conservation districts across the state and individual members dedicated to carrying out important conservation work. We are dedicated to providing leadership, preserving, protecting, and enhancing our state's natural resources and improving the environment for generations to come.

What We Do

OACD provides resources, leadership, and partnership opportunities to conservation districts and their over 400 directors statewide, as well as local cooperators statewide. We also work to build relationships in the community that develop and expand the message of natural resource conservation.

Youth Conservation Education

OACD, along with our partners, sponsor statewide speech, essay and poster contests that teach school-aged children the importance of conservation.

National Land and Range Judging Contest

This contest, hosted by OACD, welcomes over 1,000 4-H and FFA students from Hawaii to Oregon to Maryland. After months of preparation, these teams are judged on their ability to classify plants, identify soils, determine the quality of a field plot and evaluate home sites. Water Quality and Conservation

An increasingly important issue, OACD works with multiple organizations and individual landowners to develop management practices that help keep our water clean and available. Because of OACD and our partners’ work, we’ve seen great success in reducing non-point source pollution, which benefits the whole state.

Watershed Rehabilitation and Maintenance

The silent sentinels of our state, the over 3,000 flood control structures across the state help protect life and property on a regular basis. Because of this program, the state of Oklahoma has saved millions from damage that didn’t occur. For more information, please click here to visit the National Watershed Coalition website.
